Excavator and Skid Steer Winch Attachments

Hydraulic winch attachments can be configured for excavators, skid steers and other mobile machines that already have auxiliary hydraulic power. They are used for recovery, pulling, positioning, controlled lowering and material handling tasks where electric winches are not strong enough or not suitable for the duty cycle.

Excavator Applications

Excavator winches usually require careful mounting design, good rope angle control and load-control valves. The attachment may be installed on the boom, stick, quick coupler or a dedicated frame depending on the working method.

Skid Steer Applications

Skid steer winch attachments are often built around a quick-attach plate. Standard-flow and high-flow machines need different motor sizing, so the available flow and pressure should be checked before selecting the winch.

What Defines the Right Winch

  • Required line pull and rope layer.
  • Target line speed and available hydraulic flow.
  • Brake type, valve block functions and lowering control.
  • Rope diameter, drum capacity and fairlead arrangement.
  • Mounting envelope, machine weight and expected duty cycle.

JST Hydraulic can provide hydraulic winch motors, planetary gearboxes, brakes, drums and valve blocks as a matched drive package for mobile equipment builders and retrofit projects.
