Define the load profile
Conveyor drives, slurry-handling auxiliaries and ventilation mechanisms can apply sustained duty, while cutting heads, crushing equipment and travel functions can impose repeated shock and cyclic loads. Record continuous torque, starting torque, peak torque, reversals and starts per hour instead of assigning a generic multiplier.
Determine speed and drive configuration
Low-speed high-torque motors can drive suitable functions directly. Other duties may be better served by a motor and planetary reducer selected as a package. The choice depends on output speed, torque, shock load, installation envelope, efficiency and maintainability.

JHM and JNM ranges vary materially by model. Use the selected model table, performance curve and installation drawing; do not apply one blanket pressure, speed or displacement range to every motor.
Choose the motor family from the duty
Radial piston motors are practical starting points for high starting torque, low-speed control and heavy rotary duty. JHM, JNM and QJM each cover different displacement, pressure, speed and interface ranges. BM orbital motors may suit compact auxiliary functions with moderate loads. Final selection needs the specific catalog limits.
